TPOs & Conservation Areas

T C Tree and Site Services Ltd understand Tree Preservation Orders (TPO`s), conservation areas, planning restrictions and local authority requirements. A TPO is put in place by the local authority under section 198 of the Town & Country Planning Act 1990 to protect trees that are considered to be of significant impact to the environment or that are considered to be of high amenity value to the area.

Our pre works due diligence checks include reviews of local authority restrictions and constraints to ensure the proposed works are compliant with legal requirements. If our checks find that the proposed work areas are covered by a statutory constraint we can aid and assist our clients in the legal application process and by leading on local authority liaison to apply for the necessary consents and approvals to undertake the works.

Planning Requirements

Where proposed building works may affect trees in the immediate or surrounding area, a planning application will require an accompanying tree report. The arboricultural report will assess the affected trees in accordance with British Standard 5837:2005 and will identify the species, age, size and whether the trees are affected by disease or damage. The report will identify the root protection area for each tree depending on the type and size of the tree. The assessment will consider the works proposed and the potential impact the work may have upon the trees. Recommendations will be provided within the report to identify which trees require felling or pruning to enable the works, the report will also provide advice and guidance on measures available to ensure the protection of the trees remaining. T C Tree and Site Services are experienced in arranging and managing the undertaking of tree reports on behalf of our clients, once a tree assessment has been undertaken and a report has been produced we are able to provide advice and accurate costs for any works recommended under the report. We can assist our clients with compiling planning documentation and with submitting the final planning application.

Where tree protection fencing and signage are required as part of the planning consent, T C Tree and Site Services are able to supply and install tree protection fencing and signage on a hired or purchased basis to satisfy the environmental planning requirements.
